Somerleigh Court is homely and inclusive and new residents will feel welcome straight away.
We have a person-centered approach to care and from the moment a resident arrives we take time to find out about what interests them and the things they like to do. Our large activities team supports the residents in maintaining routines and realising personal wishes, such as facilitating outings and hobbies. Residents that wish to socialise will be introduced to other residents as soon as possible via social activities and events in the home.
Residents are encouraged to bring personal items and furnishings to decorate their rooms.
Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis and we aim to be as accommodating as possible. We have regular pet therapy from dogs and alpacas which brings comfort and joy to residents.

Our busy activities team is happy to design personalised activities to accommodate each resident’s interests and preferences. Residents can head into Dorchester for shopping, visit local attractions, or enjoy the on-site entertainment from the comfort of their lounge.
Daily routines are structured around mealtimes, but each day is flexible and designed to enhance each resident’s quality of life.
We provide delicious and healthy meals for our residents. We source our food locally and our menus are varied and change weekly. Food includes traditional dishes such as roast beef and Yorkshire pudding through to more contemporary favourites and international cuisine.
Menus are tailored to resident’s preferences and dietary needs, and all specialist, dietary requirements are accommodated.
Residents can eat in the communal areas where the home has a singing kitchen assistant or spend a quieter mealtime eating in their room.
